Sir Ranulph Fiennes, the world’s most intrepid explorer had his own Lastability® expedition on a recent discovery visit to Finning to find out about the work Finning is doing with the Lastability® promise to save the industry £10m in 2010.
Being the only living human to circumnavigate the globe by any route (more people have been to the moon), Ranulph spoke about the critical importance of putting together the very best equipment, support teams, resources, innovation and determination that had seen him successfully complete some of the worlds most challenging expeditions.
Commenting on the work that Finning has put into its Lastability® Promise, Ranulph said: “Everyone I speak to wants to know how I coped with challenges on expeditions and the physical challenges you have to face. It is really all about the time and effort it takes to put together an expedition in the first place, having a can do attitude and the ability to overcome any hurdle that you are faced with.
Most of all it is about planning and having the right expertise, equipment and resources for each and every challenge you may be faced with. Technology and innovation play their part but the glue that keeps all of this together is the variety and skills of people that can ultimately overcome the barriers to success.
“What I really like about Finning’s Lastability® Promise and delivery is that the business has fundamentally adopted these principles that I hold dear and have been the cornerstone of my teams successes over the years.
“It proves that even in tough times, a company can make a difference to an important industry by sticking its neck out and challenging the norm. But what really impressed me about ‘Lastability®’ and the word itself says it all, is that it ultimately is responsible for reducing the impact of plant and equipment on the environment, which is something definitely worthy of praise.
“I am personally looking forward to seeing what Finning can achieve and hope my support for this Lastability® campaign will help make a difference to its success, …every little counts towards this ambitious goal of saving £10m in 2010.
“I urge anyone interested in how Finning’s Lastability® campaign can help their business to visit the website www.lastability.com
