Lastability® – Undercarriage – P&B Turn

Undercarriage1

For tracked machines the undercarriage can account for up to 50% of the machines total repair and maintenance costs. Therefore it is vital for the undercarriage parts and the Finning back-up and support to demonstrate the key elements of Lastability® if they are to deliver outstanding machine ownership.

In some applications an undercarriage will experience accelerated wear on the bushings compared to the links. If the ratio of bushing to link wear is approaching 2:1 then you have two options.

Option 1 ss run to destruction. No intervention is made and just the one side of the bushing is used. The undercarriage is in operation until the bushing reaches full life, resulting in valuable link material being thrown away.

Option 2 is a Pin and Bush turn intervention. This is where Finning performs a Pin & Bush turn, just before 100% bushing wear, allowing wear on the second side of the bushing. The wear on the undercarriage system between the bushing and the link is better matched. The undercarriage can then be in operation until either the second life on the bushing or the link rail reaches full life.

By choosing option 2 and performing a pin & bush turn you can significantly reduce your machines undercarriage operating cost and with the ratios, get close to doubling your link assembly life.
